Favorite Success Quote

“It’s all about what you do when people aren’t watching.”

Key Points

1. Be Grateful

Billy has a tremendous perspective on the stepping stones that have lead to his current success and takes daily action to continue excelling (and accelerating).

2. Plan Ahead

To win: Prioritize and plan.  Create scripts for your videos.   If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.  Excel spreadsheets can be utilized here.   Get it done.  No excuses.

3. Keep The Priorities Straight

Remain flexible, and understand nothing is forever.  Despite YouTube appearing extremely promising right now, realize it may not be in ten years.  Billy is committed achieving his college degree.  He is not willing to abandon this part of his life for YouTube.  Through countless hours of dedicated effort and discipline, he is able to both attend university full time, and host a rapidly growing tech YouTube channel.  Again, prioritization is a must in order to show up effectively in each category of your life.

4. Look For Opportunities

Billy caught a passion for tech through using his first mac book laptop.  He also fell in love with drones, and he is now building a personal brand and business around tech.  This is the new era economy, and he is a courageous and shining example for others to take notes from.  Once Billy’s first drone video gained its first 100 views, he was motivated to continue with YouTube.

5. Be Proud of Your Work and Do Not Overbook Yourself

Make one high quality piece of content as opposed to 2-3 rapidly produced pieces of content.  For YouTube specifically, schedule your uploads.  Using the YouTube Creator Studio, schedule posts ahead of time.  This is especially useful if you are going to be traveling because in order to upload a video you have to rely on WiFi.

6. Grab as Much Criticism as You Can and Believe In Yourself

Garner information from those you trust, and gain confidence from sharing it with them.  Do not worry about what others think of you.  “Remember that what you are doing is what you love to do.  No one out there is going to give you any sort of criticism doing what you love.  And if they do, they just got a problem with themselves.” – Billy
Have thick skin.  Listen to criticism, even if the delivery of it is harsh.  That being said, only take it into consideration with a grain of salt.

The Heart Healthy Hustle Round

Heart: What activity do you use to care for and strengthen your internal character?

Be extremely driven.  Pursue your healthy goals with consistency and dedication.

Health: How do you maintain your physical health when your default “mode” is full bandwidth?

Playing on the club lacrosse team keeps him busy.  He gets outside, and enjoys staying active.  Whether he’s playing pond hockey with his boys, or playing fast paced air soft outdoors, he strives to do fun things that will also benefit him physically.

Hustle: What’s your main motivation for doing what you do?

Billy kindly gets vulnerable with the audience and shares a bit about his family history.  He has witnessed unforeseen misfortunes like schedule strains and layoffs happen to his family.  He shares that he has had a tremendous childhood, and that this has motivated him to be the best parent that he can.  Billy credits both of his loving parents for everything he has learned.
